If you're visiting Europe for the first time, for any length of time, I highly recommend London as a starting point. You can take a train from here to almost anywhere in Europe!
London has so much to offer in terms of history, but the food is what made me want to say. If you think the food scene in San Francisco or New York is something to talk about, wait until you come here! I didn't have a single meal that I didn't like, and just thinking about it as I write this post is making me drool a little. The major landmarks are easy to find, so I thought I'd list some of our favorite restaurants instead!
51 Berwick Street, Soho w1F 8SJ
Franco Manca was great first stop for us, famous for their sourdough pizza! All the carbs really helped us get through the rest of our day free of jet lag. It was delicious and comforting, and right in Soho so we were able to see some of the sights after we ate as well. They use amazing ingredients in their pizzas and you can definitely taste that.
18-20 Bedford Hill, London SW12 9Rg
This gem is a little out of the way, but completely worth it. I'm still craving this food, more then six months after coming back to the states. We went on a sleepy weekday morning before catching our train to Paris, and I literally had dreams about the eggs benedict and the skillet for the next couple of nights. This place combines two of my favorite things when it comes to food, quality fresh ingredients and beautiful food design!
Granger & Co
175 Westbourne Grove, London W11 2SB
Hands down one of the best breakfasts that I've ever had in my life. I would die to have those amazingly creamy, perfectly cooked eggs again! Thai got the pancakes and loved them just as much, so much that he refused to share and made me order my own if I wanted some!! It also sits in the most charming neighborhood, colorful wall to wall houses, boutique shops and tree lined curbs. Make sure you take a walk after you meal to burn off all those calories!
12 Upper Saint Martin's Lane, London WC2H 9FB
Ok, saving the best for last, this is hands down one of the most incredible meals that I've had in my entire life! Dishoom is located in the Covent Garden area is absolutely amazing. The food, the smells, the decor, I still think about this place all the time. If i'm being honest, anything and everything on the menu is amazing. But if I had to make a suggestion, the crispy fried okra is delicious, and the house black daal shouldn't be missed!
There are so many other incredible places to try while you're in London, I wish I had space to list them all! But don't worry about indulging too much, trust me you'll have plenty of opportunities to walk it all off!
